P-Credit Courses
The Salvadori Center will be offering courses through the After School Professional Development Program (ASPDP) in both the fall and spring. These courses explore the Salvadori methodology of using the built environment as a springboard for interdisciplinary learning.
The courses include practical ways of connecting social studies, English Language Arts and fine arts OR math and science to the spectacular architectural and structural features of New York City.
Teachers will use field-based excursions, hands-on engineering activities, technology, and online resources to develop connections among key concepts from the NYC Scope and Sequence, and NYS and NYC Learning Standards will be addressed.
Teachers will support their students by developing curricula that connect prior knowledge, life experience, and personal interests with learning goals. The resulting lessons and activities will promote self-directed learning, interaction, choice, and civic engagement.
